SendGrid + Krokul CRM

Yes. Krokul CRM integrates with SendGrid. A won deal, a new document or a paid invoice in Krokul sends a SendGrid dynamic template e-mail to the contact, and the SendGrid Event Webhook reports delivery, opens, clicks, bounces and unsubscribes back to the same deal and contact. Krokul contacts also stay on the Marketing Contacts lists you choose. The link runs through the Krokul app in Zapier, Make, n8n and Albato or through the Krokul API and webhooks.

  • Via API and webhooksYou connect it with the Krokul app in an automation platform, the public API and signed webhooks. The page lists the steps for this service.

What your team gets

Krokul contacts on Marketing Contacts lists

When a contact is created or changed in Krokul, the connector upserts it through the SendGrid Marketing Contacts API with the e-mail, the name and the list IDs you mapped. The Krokul contact UUID travels as external_id. SendGrid answers with a job ID and finishes the import in the background.

Deal events send dynamic template e-mails

You link a Krokul event, such as a won deal or a paid invoice, to a SendGrid dynamic template. Krokul calls Mail Send with the template ID, fills dynamic_template_data with the deal title, amount, document number and manager name, and puts the deal UUID into custom_args. A comment on the deal records which template left and to whom.

Deliveries, opens and clicks on the deal

SendGrid posts events in batches to the Event Webhook, and each event carries the custom_args from the original message. Krokul reads the deal UUID from them and adds delivered, open and click events to the deal timeline. The manager sees that the client opened the offer before calling.

Bounces, spam reports and unsubscribes mark the contact

Events of type bounce, dropped, spamreport, unsubscribe and group_unsubscribe put a mark on the Krokul contact with the reason SendGrid gave. A bounce also creates a task to check the address. Krokul then skips that contact in later template sends from the same event rule.

How to connect today

Krokul app in Zapier, Make, n8n or Albato

  1. Connect the Krokul app with a Krokul API key and the SendGrid app with a SendGrid API key.
  2. From the Krokul trigger Contact Created, call Create or Update Contact in Zapier, Add or Update a Contact (New) in Make or New\Update contact in Albato.
  3. From the Krokul trigger Deal Won or Invoice Paid, call Send Email in Zapier, Mail Send in Albato or the Mail operation of the n8n SendGrid node with your template.

Custom flow through the Krokul API and webhooks

  1. Create a SendGrid API key with Mail Send and Marketing access. In Krokul, issue an API key scoped to contacts, deals and activities.
  2. Subscribe a Krokul webhook to contact.created, card.won and invoice.paid, check x-crm-signature, then call PUT /v3/marketing/contacts or POST /v3/mail/send with the deal UUID in custom_args.
  3. Turn on the signed Event Webhook in SendGrid and verify the ECDSA signature on every batch.
  4. For each event, deduplicate by sg_event_id, find the contact with contact/api-find and write activity/api-create on the deal from custom_args.

Questions and answers

Does Krokul integrate with SendGrid?

Yes. Krokul integrates with SendGrid through the Krokul app in Zapier, Make, n8n and Albato and through its API and webhooks, for contacts, template e-mail and delivery events.

How do SendGrid events find the right deal?

Krokul adds the deal UUID to custom_args on every message. SendGrid returns custom_args with each Event Webhook event, so opens and clicks land on the deal that sent the e-mail.

Does Krokul stop sending to an address that bounced?

Yes. A bounce or dropped event marks the contact in Krokul, and the event rules skip a marked contact. SendGrid also keeps its own suppression list for that address.

Which templates can Krokul use?

SendGrid dynamic templates, with IDs that start with d-. The template design lives in SendGrid, and Krokul sends only the template ID and the values for its fields.

Limits

Templates, sender domains, IP reputation and suppression groups are managed in SendGrid. Contact upserts in SendGrid run as background jobs, so a new contact appears on the list a short time after Krokul sends it.
