# Sales commissions calculated from the same payments

A scheme defines what you pay for, from when, and how much. The period closes with the number the rep has seen all month, so there is nothing to argue about.

**In short.** Krokul is a B2B CRM that calculates sales rep commissions: a scheme defines the accrual base (received payment, deal amount or margin), the recognition point (on payment or on win), a rate or volume tiers, and reversals on refunds; accruals are calculated from the same payments and deals the company records, reps see their accruals throughout the month, and the period is closed and can’t be rewritten retroactively.

**Who it’s for:** sales teams with bonuses based on payments or margin; distributors with targets and tiers; owners tired of bonus spreadsheets.

**Plan:** Available from the Margin plan, $399 per month, 5,000 transactions included

## What it looks like without Krokul

1. The manager calculates bonuses in a spreadsheet on the 2nd. The rep calculates them in his own and gets three thousand more. Half a day of meetings about those three thousand.
2. A client returned goods in April; the bonus for them was paid in March. Nobody wants to do the reversal, so the bonus stays.
3. A “5% of everything” scheme doesn’t motivate selling high-margin products: the rep discounts down to zero, because his percentage is of the amount.

## What Krokul does

### A scheme is rules, not a spreadsheet

Base: payment, deal amount or margin. Recognition: on payment or on win. A rate or tiers by period volume. You can have several schemes, by role or pipeline.

### Accruals from live payments

Every received payment or won deal creates an accrual by the scheme. Accounting sees the same records, so the numbers match by design.

### Reversal on refunds

A refund or a canceled deal reverses the accrual, in the current period, with a link to the original.

### The period gets closed

At month-end the period is closed in one step and the number is locked. Anything that comes in later goes into the next period. A role with the right permission can reopen it.

## How it works

1. **You define the scheme** Base, recognition point, tiers, who it applies to. The scheme takes effect from a date; earlier accruals don’t change.
2. **Payments create accruals** A payment from the bank statement is confirmed, and the rep’s accrual is calculated. He sees it in his report the same day.
3. **Refunds reverse accruals** A refund to the client removes the accrual with a link; the rep sees exactly what it was for.
4. **The period gets closed** The manager closes the month; the total for each rep goes to accounting. The next month starts from zero.

## Result

- Reps see their accruals every day and don’t argue on the 2nd.
- Refunds don’t leave paid-out bonuses for goods that are no longer sold.
- A margin-based scheme motivates selling with margin, not discounting to zero.

## What’s not included

Krokul doesn’t run payroll or make payouts: it calculates the commission amount for the period, and accounting pays it. The scheme has no commissions for tasks, calls or other actions without money: only from deals, payments and margin.

## Questions

### Can there be several schemes?

Yes: by role, pipeline or period. A rep has one active scheme at the time of each accrual.

### What does a rep see?

Their own accruals for the period with links to payments or deals, reversals and the total. Not anyone else’s.

### How are tiers calculated?

By the base volume for the period: one rate up to the first threshold, another above it. The threshold is checked at the time of each accrual.

### How is this different from a bonus spreadsheet?

A spreadsheet calculates from an export and lives separately from payments. In Krokul the accrual appears at the moment of payment, is reversed on a refund and is closed with the period. It’s accounting, not a calculation.

### How much does it cost?

Schemes and accruals come with the Margin plan, $399 per month. Accruals don’t count as transactions.

### Can a rep see their own commission?

Yes, in their profile: accruals for the selected month with the base, rate and amount for each deal, the same number the manager closes in the period.

## Describe your bonus scheme once

Set the base, the recognition point and the tiers, and the next payment from the bank statement will calculate who gets how much on its own. There will be nothing to argue about on the 2nd.

On the Margin plan this comes together with cost tracking and completion certificates.
