# Odoo alternative for integrators and B2B service companies

Odoo is a suite of business apps you assemble into your own system. Krokul is a vertical B2B CRM: the chain from deal to payment, project, hours and margin is already built.

- Deal, documents and payments in one card
- Unlimited users on every plan
- Data stored in the European Union

## Two operating models

As of October 2026. Odoo facts checked on 9 October 2026 against odoo.com; prices are list prices in euros, excluding taxes; Krokul prices are in US dollars.

| Criterion | Odoo | Krokul |
|---|---|---|
| What you get on day one | The system is assembled from apps and customisations | A ready B2B CRM: deal, quote, contract, invoice, payment, project, hours and margin in one database |
| Who sets it up | Companies under 50 employees usually work directly with Odoo using Success Packs; larger companies usually work with a partner (Odoo pricing FAQ) | The light part — you with the built-in assistant: business type in one question, import from spreadsheets with rollback. Business processes, advanced triggers and complex import — an integrator partner |
| Implementation effort | 80% of projects within the Success Pack scope go live in 200 hours or less; packs of 4–200 hours cost €499–€16,830 for new customers. Odoo’s own figure: 98% success with a pack, 65% without | Configuration, not development: pipelines, stage rules, custom fields, automation rules. Krokul publishes no implementation price — the partner sets it |
| Customisation | Studio on the Custom plan, or Python modules on Odoo.sh or on-premise; Odoo Online runs neither custom modules nor Apps Store modules | Configuration only; no client-specific code |
| When a new version comes out | A major version every year, each supported for three years. Standard apps and Studio customisations are upgraded by Odoo; modules written in-house or by partners must be ported by their owner, and the database cannot be upgraded until they are | One version for every client: an update reaches all companies at once, with “What’s new” in the app; nothing to port |
| Who keeps it running | Odoo for the standard apps; whoever wrote the custom code for the rest, version after version | The vendor maintains one product; you and your partner own the configuration and the data |
| Pricing model | Per user per month: Standard €19.90–€24.90, Custom €35.90–€44.90 (introductory discount for 12 months); Odoo.sh hosting extra | Unlimited users; $0 / $149 / $399 per month for depth of the chain |
| Three years, 20 users | Licences alone: about €14,300–€17,900 on Standard and €25,800–€32,300 on Custom at list prices; plus implementation and, with custom code, porting it at each major version | $5,364 on Money or $14,364 on Margin over 36 months, plus transactions above the plan. Light setup — yourself with the assistant, at no extra charge; a partner quotes the setup price before the start, after reviewing your process |

## Construction kit or vertical system

Both models work. The difference is who carries the system after go-live.

### Construction kit

Odoo is assembled from standard apps. What they do not do is built with Studio or code. Code is yours to keep compatible: Odoo upgrades standard apps and Studio, but not modules written by you or a partner, and versions are supported for three years.

### Vertical system

Krokul is built for one kind of business: B2B with a long sales cycle, where a deal turns into documents, payments, a project, hours and margin. The partner configures pipelines, fields, rules and import; there is no client-specific code, so an update reaches every client the same day.

### Where the line really runs

Odoo Online on standard apps, without custom modules, is closer to a ready product: Odoo upgrades it for you. The construction-kit cost appears once a process needs code. Count the hours and the code your process needs before you compare licence prices.

## Who Krokul fits

### Who Krokul is for

B2B companies with a long sales cycle, where a deal continues into a contract, invoices, payments, a project, hours and margin: integrators and implementation firms, SaaS and subscription services, agencies and project firms, software vendors with partners, B2B distribution.

### Who Krokul is not for

B2C retail, point of sale and shops, warehouse logistics (WMS), manufacturing ERP, and teams whose main need is marketing automation or a mobile app for staff. Krokul’s honest limits: no 2FA or SSO, no e-signature, no Gantt charts, no direct bank connection and no report builder; Google Calendar sync is one-way.

## Questions and answers

### Is Krokul an Odoo alternative?

For B2B companies whose work runs from a deal to a project, hours and margin — integrators, service and subscription businesses — yes: Krokul has that chain ready, without assembling apps.

### How long does an Odoo implementation take?

Odoo states that 80% of projects within its Success Pack scope go live in 200 hours or less, and that companies under 50 employees usually work directly with Odoo. Larger companies usually work with a partner, and custom development adds its own time on top.

### What happens to customisations when Odoo releases a new version?

Odoo upgrades standard apps and Studio customisations. Modules written in-house or by partners are outside the upgrade service unless covered by a maintenance contract: their owner ports them, and the database cannot move to the new version until they are ported. Each major version is supported for three years.

### Do I need an integrator for Krokul?

Not for the light part: the built-in assistant sets up the business type in one question, and data comes in from spreadsheets with rollback. Business processes, advanced triggers and complex imports are work for an integrator partner, who configures the product rather than writing code for it.

### How do the costs compare over three years?

For 20 users, Odoo licences alone come to about €14,300–€17,900 on Standard or €25,800–€32,300 on Custom at list prices, before implementation and code maintenance. Krokul has unlimited users: $5,364 on Money or $14,364 on Margin over 36 months, plus transactions above the plan. Light setup is done yourself with the assistant at no extra charge; if you need a partner, they quote the setup price before the start, after reviewing your process.

Add one real deal and take it to a quote for free. Then contract, invoice and payment on the Money plan.
